Tenpin Bowling will hold a competition briefing for all team managers on Friday 11 May from 5:00pm at Planet Tenpin in Nightcliff. This meeting is important for all to attend.

International Participation in Tenpin Bowling
As at 5 May 2007, Tenpin Bowling will have the following international teams competing:
Singapore, Brunei, Macau, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei.

The first attempt in Singles, Doubles and Trios is free but multiple entries up to the maximum of 3 in each event will cost competitors $30 Aus per event. Masters Finalists decided from the top 16 All Events Scores in all Divisions must pay $150 Aus for lineage.
There will be cash prizes for the first 3 places in all Masters Divisions but this is dependent on local sponsorship attained.

Arafura Handicap Classic
Prior to the Arafura Games the Arafura Handicap Classic will take place.
This is a handicap event open to all TBA registered players and ABF affiliates from Darwin and beyond using handicap of 100% of 200. Those bowlers competing in the Handicap Division of Arafura Games are invited to participate.
Bowlers will qualify by bowling 8 games with handicap in either one or multiple attempts at a cost of $60 during 3 squads on Friday 11th May. The last squad or "desperado squad" will cost $50 for bowlers having a second attempt.
The finals format is a series of knockout blocks of 4 games where bowlers only pay for each block of games that they remain in the final. For instance the top 24 bowlers either male or female play 4 games paying $36, then the top 16 from that stage play a further 4 games paying $30.
The top 8 from that stage will play a further 4 games paying $30 and then the final 4 remaining players compete in a stepladder grand final free of charge. In this event there is $2,000 guaranteed prize fund paying to 8th position which will increase based on the number of entries. This event will conclude in time for bowlers to take part in the prestigious Arafura Games Opening Ceremony.
Arafura Open Classic Singles
At the completion of the Medal Events bowlers may nominate to take part in the Open Arafura Classic Singles which will take place on the last weekend of the Games. This event is staged every year.
Entry Fee is $300 Aus and is an important Australian National Rankings Event. Bowlers all bowl 10 games then the top 32 men and 24 women will bowl a further 6 games then the final 16 men and 16 women will compete in match play final with top 3 stepladder grand-final.
The tournament carries in excess of $10,000 guaranteed prize fund plus additional prize fund based on the number of entries.
Event Format
Bowlers all bowl 12 games. The top 32 men and 24 women, based on total scratch pinfall, will compete in Round 2 and bowl a further 6 games. On completion of Round 2, the highest placed 16 men and 16 women will bowl 15 games match play. Bonus pinfall will be 30 pins for a win, 15 pins for a draw. All pinfall will be dropped after Round 2.
On completion of the match play, the top 3 men and 3 women will complete on a one (1) game stepladder final. Position 3 vs. Position 2 with the winner playing the highest qualifier. If the Highest Qualifier is beaten in the first game, a second repercharge game will be bowled. No bonus pinfall will apply during the stepladder final (as per Rules and General Information on Arafura Classic Singles Entry form).
Event Location
Planet Tenpin is the only bowling centre in Darwin, situated at 69 Progress Drive Nightcliff. The 16-lane centre is a bright welcoming venue for the staging of this event.
The wooden lanes have Guardian on "the heads" and are maintained carefully in accordance with the NSO's lane conditioning policy.
AMF 82/70 machinery and an automatic computer score system to ensure that the bowlers enjoy a "call free" event.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much will transport cost?
The Arafura Games Organisers will provide bus transfers for all teams on arrival and departure in Darwin. An official Games shuttle bus service will operate free of charge between accommodation houses and training and competition venues for all accredited participants.
What about accommodation for my team and officials?
Darwin has a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets, tastes and special requirements. Almost all of Darwin's accommodation houses are located close to the Central Business District (CBD) and a short drive from sporting venues. Accommodation bookings can be made through the Arafura Games Bedbank. Accommodation should be booked early to benefit from early specials and avoid disappointment.
