WSBL Player of the Week - Rnd 4

THE week four Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Nici Gilday of the Mandurah Magic.

In their first home game at the newly renovated Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Gilday gave the Mandurah supporters plenty to be excited about following their 91-57 win against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The 5’7 guard out of Santa Clara, California has been a steady contributor for the Magic in 2017, however she turned it up a gear on Friday night posting a 33 point, 5 rebound and 2 assist stat line. Gilday shot the ball efficiently, going 11/17 from the field and 8/9 from the line, all while recording just a solitary turnover in her 33 minutes.

The duo of Gilday and Carly Boag, who impressed with 20 points and 11 rebounds, is sure to cause headaches for the rest of the league, as the Magic now improve to 3-0 and are currently the WSBL’s best defensive team. The Perry Lakes Hawks (4-0) and Joondalup Wolves (3-0) are the only other teams yet to drop a game thus far. Gilday and the Magic turn their attention to tomorrow night’s Cockburn Easter matchup, in an action packed SBL Easter Thursday.
