Deanna Smith Takes Over as Coach of the Lady Hawks

Perry Lakes Hawks are very pleased to announce Deanna (Doccy) Smith as the new head coach of the Lady Hawks for 2017.

Doccy takes over the role from Craig (CJ) Jackson who has retired from SBL, after 25 years of service as a player, administrator and a coach in this League. CJ has moved into an exciting new role within our Club, further details to be announced.

The Club would like to thank CJ for his hard work over the past 4 seasons with our Lady Hawks and also for his service to SBL, since arriving in Australia as an import.

Deanna brings to the role a wealth of experience at a playing level with over 16 years of playing at a high level, including 260+ WNBL Games, 60 games for the Australian Opals and over 100 WSBL games with Hawks and Cougars. Deanna was also the head playing coach at the Cockburn Cougars in 2014 & 2015 leading the team to 5th and 8th position on the WSBL ladder.

“I’m honoured to be named the head coach of the Lady Hawks and am looking forward to leading the SBL program. I would like to thank the Club and in particular the Board for this fantastic opportunity.” – Smith said.

“I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of CJ and his coaching staff and look forward to building upon the foundations they have put in place. There is a great deal of talent both current and upcoming at the Hawks that I can’t wait to start working with and I’m excited by the opportunities that lie ahead and hope to play an important role in the sustained success of the Club.”

We welcome Deanna to her new role and look forward to season 2017 with Doccy at the helm.
