THE week ten Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded Sami Whitcomb of the Orange Auto’s Rockingham Flames.

Just when we thought the three time league MVP couldn’t amaze us more than she already has, Sami Whitcomb puts together one of the most stunning performances ever seen in the SBL on Friday night at Eaton Recreation Centre.

 

The Flames went into Friday night’s game against the South West Slammers without regulars Darcee Garbin, Tarsha Fletcher or the Bourne sisters Talisia and Jacinta, however Whitcomb’s unbelievable performance of 55 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals was enough to guide Rockingham to victory 88 to 78.

 

Whitcomb’s ability to get to the free throw line and convert was pivotal in the Flames win as she knocked down 16 of 20 attempts.

 

Whitcomb had support from teammate Ashlee Sidebottom who managed 22 points & 6 rebounds in the match while Lizel Buckley held down the defensive end with 12 boards and 2 blocks.

 

The Flames will be hopeful their second import Ifunanya Ibekwe can be injected into line-up in the coming weeks as the Flames push for a third straight championship.
