Giants bring in new year with Goodluck

The Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants have brought in 2016 with a bang after the announcement they have secured the signing of South Australian guard Daniel Goodluck.

Goodluck, or "Lucky" as he is more commonly known, is regarded as one of the best young up and coming guards in the South Australian Premier League competition where he has spent the last four seasons playing with the North Adelaide Rockets.

Making his debut as a development player in 2012, the 185cm Goodluck has seen himself emerge into a starter the last two seasons where he has averaged double figure points, as well as proving himself to be a defensive spark and long range threat.

His breakout 2014 season saw him average 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists over 18 games and named club Most Valuable Player, whilst in his most recent season, he averaged 12 points, 3 rebound, 3 assists and 2 steals over 22 games whilst playing alongside an import guard as their team made it to the finals.

After signing with the Giants, Goodluck said he is very excited about his new direction in his basketball career.

"I'm most looking forward to meeting my new basketball family - team-mates, coaches, management staff and the Giants community. I'm excited for the opportunity to bring a bit of South Australia into the Giants program and to contribute to a successful 2016 season!”

"I am a player who understands their role in a team, whether it's being the scoring threat, creating and distributing to team-mates, shutting down an opposition guard with smothering defence or what ever the coach and team needs from me.”

The South Australian connection is one the Giants have had some great success with over the years, having picked up some great recruits.

This includes former Giants’ captains Randy Miegel and Wayne Chapman who headlined the club in the 90’s and took them to the 1995 championship games and most recently with two time Giants’ championship player and former captain Matthew Leske who retired at the end of the 2014 season.

With any luck, hopefully he will be one of the missing pieces to help the Giants to another championship run.

“Lucky" will be joining the team in the new year for a training camp before relocating to Kalgoorlie-Boulder at the start of the SBL season.
