Moore Given Ultimate Honour

On what was a massive night for the Flames Men's and Women's SBL Teams, with both teams reaching triple figures in their wins over the visiting Lakeside Lightning, those results seemed like a side story after a very special presentation to club legend Travis Moore prior to the Men's game, who - after his playing his 450th SBL Game last weekend against the Cougars; then reached a very special milestone playing his 400th game for the Flames on Friday night at the Hothouse.

To mark this very special milestone, Rockingham Flames Club President Mark Jorgensen then surprised Travis by naming the SBL Show Court at Mike Barnett Sports Complex in his honour, with the magnitude of the honour certainly not being lost on Moore who later posted this on to the Flames social media page 'Considering the people that have been involved that the club, past and present; it’s a huge honour #blownaway #flamesfamily'

Moore was then given one final honour, from not only a fellow life member of the Flames, but a very respected personality amongst the SBL Fraternity in Darren 'Whopper' Russell, who had the following to say about his close friend and former team mate:

"Tonight see's Trav pull on the big boots for his 400th time for the mighty Rockingham Flames. I had the pleasure of growing up with Trav through this club both as a junior and then as part of a veteran SBL outfit that demanded toughness and hardwork, where you trained hard, played hard (sometimes it wasn't pretty to watch) and we fought hard - sometimes literally in a competitive league where as young fellas - minutes were scarce and you saw any opportunity on the court as a great one, not just one you were owed.

Just some quick facts about this guy just to make light of the 400 games: Trav can still touch the backboard / Trav did his sitting time too. You guys on the end of the benches from both teams, he was there once so don't think you're above doing your time and learning the ropes, being grateful for being one of the lucky people playing SBL for your respective teams / His first game was in 1995 - Five of the current Flames SBL players were not born back then… nor were half of the people watching the game tonight! / There are some players that evolve and change their game and moves year in year out. Opposition teams know what this guy does but he still gets it done / You have offered constructive feedback to long suffering referees for 21 seasons and deserved every 'T' you were given!

Anyway poor jokes aside, Trav I love you like a brother mate, except for when its your shout. Your lovely wife Ness (Vanessa) and girls Sally & Mackenzie have been to more games than most of the players in the League, and the surname Moore at our club has seen six life members adorn the walls of our mighty club, from Peter Moore our little chief of a former teammate, to your lovely mum Heather and sister Karina. There is no greater way to be remembered at a club other than the legacy of the character and loyal service you have provided."

On behalf of the entire Rockingham Flames club, we want to congratulate Trav on such an amazing achievement and that with this honour, he will always be a part of our beloved #FlamesFamily.
