Lady Tigers on the board in 2014 (Week 4 Friday night SBL wrap)

THE 2013 women's minor premiers Willetton finally got their first win of 2014 on Friday night while John Dickson's 44 points wasn’t enough for their men's outfit against the Perth Redbacks.

It was an exciting night of SBL action on Friday and in the two women's matches, the Willetton Tigers got on the board in 2014 beating the Perth Redbacks 73-47 at Belmont Oasis while the Perry Lakes Hawks scored a hard fought 12-point win over the Cockburn Cougars at the WA Basketball Centre.

The Hawks improved to a 2-1 record with their win over the Cougars who were handed their first defeat of the 2014 season in the process.

Rosie Tobin finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists for Perry Lakes with Kate Anthony adding 17 points, three boards and three assists.

Anna Kovats also added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists with Sarah Donovan contributing 12 points and Jessie Clayton 11 to go with six assists.

Emma Pass top-scored for the Cougars with 23 points and seven rebounds while Sam Richards finished with 22 points and five assists.

Ebony Antonio top-scored for Willetton in the win over Perth with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Antonia Edmondson added 11 points, Desiree Kelley 11, Mikayla Pirini nine, Emma Lobb nine and Brooke Hiddlestone nine.

Jess Jakens had 13 points and five rebounds for the Redbacks with Alix Hayward also adding 13 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, in Friday night's two men's SBL matches the Perry Lakes Hawks got their first win of 2014 winning a thriller 95-92 over the Cockburn Cougars and the Perth Redbacks improved to a 3-2 record beating the Willetton Tigers 129-112.

Justin Cecil led the way for the Hawks with 24 points on the back of shooting 9-of-17 from the field with Josh Garlepp adding 19 points, Corey Easley 16, Ben Purser 14 (nine rebounds, five assists, two blocks) and Rob Cassir 11.

Seva Chan scored 22 points for the Cougars with Damien Scott contributing 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals while shooting 9-of-16 from the field, and 3-of-6 from three-point territory.

Anthony Borden also contributed 18 points and seven boards for the Cougars with Gavin Field adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

Stan Okoye led the Redbacks to their win over the Tigers with 32 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots while shooting 12-of-21 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Dennis Tawhiti also contributed 23 points and 10 boards for Perth with Jarrad Prior adding 23 points, Marshall Nelson 17 and Joel Wagner 12 to go with nine assists and eight rebounds.

John Dickson did all he could for Willetton finishing the night with 44 points and seven rebounds while shooting 15-of-23 from the field and 6-of-9 from downtown.

Quinn McDowell was also a welcome addition to the Tigers line-up and had 20 points and 10 rebounds with Andrew Black adding 13 points and six assists, Daniel Casey 11 points and Jacob Reed 10.
