Senators to unveil Ellis (Week 4 Men's SBL Preview)

CODY Ellis will line-up for the Stirling Senators this Saturday night fresh off his rookie NBL season with the Sydney Kings on what is shaping as an exciting three days of action in Week 4 of the 2014 SBL campaign.

The weekend's action begins on Friday night with two matches both tipping off at 8.30pm with the Perry Lakes Hawks hosting the Cockburn Cougars, and then the Perth Redbacks taking on the Willetton Tigers.

It is then a huge Saturday night across Western Australia with five matches highlighted by Ellis lining up for the Stirling Senators as they host the Kalamunda Eastern Suns at 8pm.

Before that, the two matches tipping off at 7.30pm sees the Cockburn Cougars host the Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants and then the Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers do battle in an all-regional clash with the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers.

Then also at 8pm, the Vorian Agency East Perth Eagles face the Mandurah Magic and at 8.30pm, the Willetton Tigers play the Perry Lakes Hawks in a match that was meant to take place last Saturday night.

There are then three more huge battles to come on Sunday starting at 11.30am with the Rockingham Flames hosting the Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants.

Then at 2pm, the Joondalup Wolves face the Perth Redbacks and at 4pm, the Lakeside Lightning takes on the Vorian Agency East Perth Eagles.

Friday night's matches pit the winless Hawks up against the 1-2 Cougars.

Perry Lakes has lost its first three games to Mandurah, Perth and Geraldton while Cockburn opened its season with a big win over Kalamunda before suffering losses to Willetton and Mandurah.

The Cougars desperately need to find some more help for the dominant Damien Scott and Gavin Field.

Friday's other game pits the Redbacks against the Tigers with Perth entering with a 2-2 record and Willetton on 1-2.

Then on Saturday night, the Cougars back up their game against the Hawks on Friday by hosting the winless from four games Giants at Wally Hagan Stadium.

The Buccaneers host the Slammers in what should be a fascinating battle at Active West Stadium with Geraldton coming off two wins last weekend over East Perth and Perry Lakes while South West will be desperate to bounce back from a loss to Lakeside.

The 2-3 Eagles then host the on-fire 3-1 Magic with the Senators unveiling Cody Ellis on Saturday night at home to the Eastern Suns.

Ellis, the son of WA basketball legend Mike, is coming off his rookie NBL season with the Sydney Kings following his strong US college career, and it is going to be a huge bonus for both the Senators and the SBL to now have him in the league starting this weekend.

Both the Tigers and Hawks then back up from playing on Friday night to play out a fixture that should have taken place last Saturday night had it not been for power failure in the area surrounding Willetton Basketball Stadium.

And on Sunday, the Flames make their first appearance of the weekend bringing with them a 4-1 record to host the Giants who will be coming off a clash with Cockburn on Saturday night.

Last year's runner-up Joondalup will also play its only game of the weekend hosting a Redbacks team coming off a clash at home to the Tigers on Sunday.

While the defending champion Lightning will look to continue their unbeaten start to the 2014 season hosting East Perth.
